Windproof and stable – jumps with high stability

Many riders know the problem: as soon as the weather becomes a little windier, jumps start to wobble or planks move out of position. Especially jump wings and other large elements placed on open riding arenas can react sensitively to strong gusts of wind.

Unstable jumps not only cause unrest for the horse, but can also lead to dangerous situations in the arena. Especially during outdoor training, competitions or on open riding facilities, a stable reinforcement system is therefore extremely important.

With weightsand stabilizers for jump wings as well as wind brackets, jumps remain safe and stable even in strong winds, ensuring relaxed horses, safer training conditions and long-lasting jumps.

In this blog, we show you how to make your jumps more stable and therefore weatherproof, and which solutions help when jumps tip over in the wind or planks fall out of the cups.

Why do jumps tip over in the wind?

Modern jumps offer an ideal combination of stability, functionality and easy handling. On particularly windy days, it is therefore recommended to stabilize them additionally to create even more safety in the arena.

Especially in changeable weather, suitable securing systems help keep jumps stable, maintain the training flow, protect the equipment and prevent sensitive horses from being unnecessarily startled.

More stability through weights and wind brackets

To ensure that jumps remain safely in place under all conditions, specially developed reinforcement systems are available. These include weights for jump wings, stabilizers for aluminium jump wings and practical wind brackets for planks and hanging gates.

Weight for jump wings

Jumps with wings create an impressive look in the course. Especially these jumps benefit from additional securing systems in strong wind conditions. This helps ensure maximum stability and safety in the arena.

A simple and functional solution is the use of weight reinforcements. These are placed very easily at the base of the jump and provide significant additional stability there.

The tubes are weighted and can be easily attached to the lower part of the wing using the handle. This keeps the jump stable without making everyday handling complicated.

Stabilizer for aluminium jump wings

Aluminium jump wings are practical and durable. That is exactly why they are often used in training, riding schools and professional courses.

For this reason, stabilizers have been developed specifically for these aluminium jump wings in order to quickly and efficiently add extra weight and stability to these jumps.

The plastic tubes filled with ballast ensure that the wings remain safely in place. Thanks to the integrated handle and clever brackets, the stabilizer can be easily attached, moved and removed again.

This stabilizer is ideal for stable training set-ups at home, at the yard, in riding schools or in professional courses. It improves jump consistency because jumps remain calm and reliably in place.

The stabilizer is available in white and black and is suitable for aluminium jump wings. For larger quantities or special requests, you are welcome to contact Nedlandic.

Wind brackets for hanging gates and planks

For secure support of planks and gates

Additional stability systems are not only available for jump wings, but also for planks, hanging gates and other hanging elements.

The wind bracket was specially developed as an accessory for planks and gates of J4J Jumps. It provides additional stability not only in windy conditions, but also in general, helping to keep your course safe.|

Especially on open riding arenas, competition grounds or facilities with a lot of wind, wind brackets are a simple but very practical addition. They help keep the set-up calm and prevent horses from being irritated by moving jump parts.

When is additional weighting worthwhile?

A stabilizer or weight for jump wings is always worthwhile when jumps regularly stand outside and are exposed to strong wind, or when you generally place a high value on extra stability.

• for outdoor arenas
• for permanently set-up courses
• for jump wings
• for planks, hanging gates and hanging elements
• in riding schools, training yards and competition facilities

Even if jumps only rarely threaten to tip over, constant wobbling can disturb the horse’s concentration. A stable set-up creates more calm, more trust and more consistent training.

Out with the old, in with the new – stylish solutions instead of sandbags

To make jumps more stable and secure in windy conditions, classic sandbags are still used on many riding arenas. However, they often look messy, less professional and can disturb the overall appearance of the course, especially at competitions or professional riding facilities. Particularly in photos or at events, sandbags immediately stand out and quickly take away from the elegant look of the jumps.

With the new solutions, this problem is finally a thing of the past. Our modern weights have been specially developed to perfectly combine stability and design. Thanks to their stylish shape and the colours black or white, they remain particularly discreet and blend harmoniously into almost any course.

This allows the weights to be transported quickly, used flexibly and positioned easily at the jump at any time. It saves time in everyday use, creates a professional look in the arena and offers a modern solution for more safety and stability in wind and weather.

Conclusion: more safety and calm in the arena

A stable jump means more safety for horse and rider, less stress during training and a longer service life for the jumps. With weights, stabilizers and wind brackets, your course remains safe and reliable both in difficult weather conditions and in everyday use.
